Because nasal sensitivities (chronic rhinitis) do not produce a reaction during skin testing, patients with this problem are not candidates for allergen immunotherapy. However, control is generally achieved by:
- avoidance of known irritants
- medications, such as intranasal steroids and/or intranasal antihistamines
